text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"&gt;Vindo do nada, deparei comigo junto à estação ferroviária de Cacela, a terceira paragem que as 0600 (ainda) fazem, partindo de Vila Real de Santo António.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"&gt;Infelizmente, é mais uma das nossas estações despromovidas para o estado &lt;strong&gt;|C|&lt;/strong&gt;, ou seja, "eclipsadas", mantendo-se no entanto a iluminação activa à noite e havendo horários acrualizados colados com "speedfix" às fachadas e portas.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="separator" style="clear: both; Claro que por uma questão de educação tive que manter o ar sério e questionei-o sobre a locomotiva; estando ali todos os dias e conhecendo os ferroviários, havia de saber qualquer coisa.&lt;br /&gt;Bastante prestável e simpático, o senhor explicou-me então que aquele comboio de destinou a transportar a comitiva presidencial até à Escola de Hotelaria. A 29 de Julho de 1923 deu-se início à exploração deste ramal ferroviário que tinha origem na estação do Barreiro e atravessava a Ribeira de Coina por uma ponte que prematuramente se transformou na sua sepultura. Inicialmente a linha era para se estender até Cacilhas, só que o projecto foi abandonado. Sugiro que consultem o artigo completo a partir do &lt;a href="http://www.barreiroweb.com/modules.php?name=Content&amp;amp;pa=list_pages_categories&amp;amp;cid=10"&gt;início&lt;/a&gt;, no entanto transcrevo um pequeno trecho que relata este dia fatídico:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Dia l8de Setembro de l969 a ponte sobre o Rio Coina onde passava o tráfego ferroviário ruiu numa extensão de 100 metros aproximadamente. O incidente foi provocado pelo navio Alger, da empresa Vieira e Silvestre Lda., rebocado pelas lanchas Andorinha e Nova Tinta. O navio pouco sofreu. Isto é o que nos relata o jornal Tribuna do Povo (17), que afirma “certamente houve quem delirasse com o sucesso, pois de há muito que se cruzam interesses económicos da C’. P. e da Siderurgia Nacional para acabar com o ramal ferroviário”. Tal como na Ilha da Madeira existiu a linha de caminho-de-ferro do Monte para transporte de passageiros, também na Ilha de S. Miguel nos Açores existiu um caminho-de-ferro, mas desta feita de mercadorias, cujo objectivo foi servir de “ferramenta” para a construção e manutenção do molhe do porto.&lt;br /&gt;Graças à colaboração do amigo &lt;a href="http://www.blogger.com/profile/16070544329581278300"&gt;Alberto Gião&lt;/a&gt; resolvi dedicar alguns momentos à investigação na internet, começando pelo sugerido &lt;a href="http://pt.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linha_do_Porto_de_Ponta_Delgada"&gt;link para a Wikipédia&lt;/a&gt;. Segundo este artigo, &lt;em&gt;a linha foi construída ao mesmo tempo que o molhe do porto, em 1861. Não servia de transporte público, sendo apenas usada para a construção e manutenção do molhe. Para tal, havia 3 locomotivas a vapor e 39 vagões para trazer pedras de uma pedreira próxima até ao porto. A locomotiva a vapor no.1, construída em 1861 por Neilson &amp;amp; Co. (no. 697), foi a última das três que tinha vindo em segunda mão para os Açores e tinha sido antes usada para o mesmo fim em Holyhead. A No.2 foi construída por Black Hawthorn (no.766) algures entre 1880 e 1888 e a no.3 por Falcon (no.165) em 1888.&lt;br /&gt;A linha só funcionava se necessário, para a manutenção do molhe. Até há relativamente pouco tempo passava por aqui o cimenteiro de Estremoz com alguma regularidade. Mas como eu nunca estou contente com o que tenho, ainda gostava de ver um dia a catenária prolongar-se desde o pontão da marina onde hoje acaba até ao apeadeiro de Vila Real de Santo António - Guadiana (Uiiiiiiiii!), e já agora de Tunes a Lagos... do qual eu tenho orgulho em ser sócio uma visita a um dos ramais desactivados da antiga “Estrela de Évora”, mais concretamente o ramal Évora – Vila Viçosa (&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:arial;"&gt;Villa Viçoza&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;).&lt;br /&gt;Esta linha capitulou em 1 de Janeiro de 1990 depois de quase 85 anos de serviço. Pelo que consegui apurar na net, começou a funcionar em 1 de Agosto de 1905.&lt;br /&gt;Pessoalmente nunca me tinha deslocado a esta região, pelo que ao chegar à extremidade de Vila Viçosa a minha reacção foi um belo &lt;strong&gt;&lt;span style="color:#9999ff;"&gt;:-O &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;... Primeiro porque vi no local que alguém jogou mão do antigo edifício da estação datado de 1904 e o aproveitou para o que é agora o Museu do Mármore. Este placard com a numeração das linhas... Infelizmente não pesco nada de HTML, e esta foto era para ficar em último nesta série, mas enfim... Aproveita-se, para referir que é precisamente a Linha 4 que na estação de Faro acolhe os comboios Intercidades para Lisboa; excepcionalmente a Linha 5 quando a 4 se encontra ocupada. Obviamente que no tempo presente em serviço de mercadorias isto é pura ficção científica, mas no serviço de passageiros já podem operar até a 160 km/h.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Mais recentemente graças a melhoramentos ao nível da suspensão (e outros) do material rebocado, o serviço de passageiros na Linha do Norte assegurado por estas locomotivas já pode ir até aos &lt;strong&gt;200 km/h&lt;/strong&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;E falar da Linha do Algarve sem referir as 0600 seria como ir a Roma e não ver o Papa. Na sua versão original era o término do Ramal de Lagos com origem em Tunes, sendo que o troço entre esta estação e a de Vila Real de Santo António fazia parte da Linha do Sul. O projecto inicial previa a continuação da linha até Ponte de Sor, ligando-se à Linha do Leste, o que não chegou a concretizar-se.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;Esta linha tinha também o papel de fazer o transporte dos produtos da famosa Fábrica dos Leões (fábrica de produtos e massas alimentícias), situada mesmo junto à linha, em Évora.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;A escassez de passageiros e de mercadorias foi a razão apontada para o encerramento definitivo da linha em 1988. Poucos anos depois os carris foram removidos.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;Em 2005 a Câmara Municipal de Évora aproveitou o espaço desta antiga linha férrea para fazer uma ecopista destinada a peões e bicicletas. O projecto original que veio a possibilitar a existência deste ramal veio curiosamente surtir o mesmo efeito em outro ramal alentejano: o Ramal de Moura. A intenção era a da ligação ferroviária Lisboa - Sevilha, via Évora e Zafra, contemplando ainda a ligação a Moura e às Minas de São Domingos, na fronteira com o Algarve. Este projecto foi designado como a Linha do Guadiana. A mesma intenção foi demonstrada por parte de Espanha, redundando no entanto em igual fracasso, uma vez que a linha se ficou por um ramal entre Zafra e Jerez de los Caballeros.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;A via-férrea que avançava de Beja rumo a Pias faria a ligação entre a capital de distrito e a Linha do Guadiana, pelo que se pode considerar que o verdadeiro início desta linha se deu a 27 de Dezembro de 1905, quando se inaugurou o troço Pias - Moura. Aqui viria a passar a Linha do Guadiana, vinda de Évora, em direcção às Minas de São Domingos. Do lado de Évora, a construção da Linha do Guadiana propriamente dita - separação da Linha de Évora (Casa Branca - Évora - Vila Viçosa) - teve uma longa história de avanços e recuos, de 24 de Abril de 1903 (aprovação legal da construção do troço Évora - Reguengos), passando por Dezembro de 1913 (início da construção), até 6 de Abril de 1927, quando Reguengos finalmente recebe o comboio. Com origem no tempo dos Romanos, chamando-se então Oliastrum, Azambuja deve o seu nome actual aos Árabes, que lhe chamaram Azzabuja. Em 1200, Azambuja foi objecto de doação perpétua, feita por D. Sancho I em benefício de Rolim, um súbdito oriundo da Flandres, e outros compatriotas seus, como prémio pela tomada de Lisboa. Foi, precisamente, um descendente de Rolim, de seu nome Rui Fernandez, que teve a iniciativa de dotar Azambuja de foral, no ano de 1272. D. Manuel deu uma confirmação de foral a Azambuja em 1513. A freguesia conta actualmente com cerca de 7300 habitantes.&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;Uma paragem na Azambuja é determinante para se agarrar, pictoricamente, à simbologia do trabalho agrícola e fluvial ribatejanos. A faina do labor no campo e o vigor do retrato – a azul – do quotidiano no Tejo, onde coabitam os transportes (a fragata) e a pesca (avieiros).&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;em&gt;Há dois grandes painéis, um em cada topo da gare, e novamente a temática é regionalista: um representa a cultura do trigo na lezíria (com o curioso pormenor de figurar uma das primeiras debulhadoras a vapor), enquanto o outro mostra fragatas e barcos de pesca dos avieiros. Pedro II em 9 de Outubro de 1884, tendo sido posteriormente electrificada em 1910, altura em que a tracção a vapor foi posta de parte.&lt;br /&gt;Operam actualmente quatro composições de motora mais reboque adquiridos em 1980 à SLM (Suíça).&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div align="justify"&gt;&lt;span style="color:#000000;"&gt;.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;No seu traçado, esta linha passa pela Floresta da Tijuca onde podemos observar a biodiversidade nativa.
